InterActive! Virginia Online Driver Improvement Traffic School

Frequently Asked Questions

* Why go to a driver improvement traffic school clinic?
The Commonwealth of Virginia has a system that rewards good drivers. Every full calendar year that a driver has no violations, suspensions, revocations or convictions, they will be awarded one safe driving point. No person shall be permitted to accumulate more than five safe driving points. One safe driving point will eliminate one demerit point on your driving record.

Another way to remove demerit points or acquire safe driving points is to attend a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) certified driver improvement traffic school clinic. Up to five demerit points will be removed if you satisfactorily complete a driver improvement traffic school clinic (like this one).

A driver will also be directed to attend a driver improvement traffic school clinic by the DMV Commissioner if they accumulate 12 demerit points based on convictions for traffic offenses committed within a 12 month period, or 18 points in a 24 month period.

Another reason to attend a driver improvement traffic school clinic is to become a more responsible driver, lower your chances of being involved in an accident, and lower your chances of getting a ticket.

* How quickly can I finish this driver improvement traffic school course?
The course is designed to take no less than seven and one half (7 1/2) hours, or the equivalent of a traditional in-class driver improvement traffic school clinic. The great thing about this driver improvement traffic school course, however, is that you work at your own pace. No one is sitting over your shoulder making you slow down or speed up. Everyone reads at different speeds and this driver improvement traffic school program will allow you to proceed at your own pace and there is no time maximum for the program. The average completion time varies but should be around the eight hour requirement.

* How long does it take to get the driver improvement traffic school certificate?
Upon graduation, the corporate office database will automatically update and verification of your driver improvement traffic school completion will be emailed to the Department of Motor Vehicles on the next business day. We do offer an expedited service for same day submission of your completion to the DMV. There is a $12.00 charge for this service. You may also order an official certificate copy when you enroll for the course, and will receive a graduation email sent automatically free of charge.

* How can I pay for the driver improvement traffic school course?
You can pay for the driver improvement traffic school course with any major credit card. After you fill out the registration form, you can be linked to a completely secure credit card page where you pay quickly and effortlessly. The site is encrypted to make your on-line purchase safe.

* What if my deadline for completion of the driver improvement traffic school clinic has passed?
Contact the DMV for instructions regarding extension of your due date. InterActive! Virginia Online Traffic School cannot extend your due date.

* How do I register for this driver improvement traffic school course?
Registration for this driver improvement traffic school course is quite simple. You can click HERE and be taken to the online registration page. Just complete all the appropriate fields and you can get started right away on your driver improvement traffic school program.

* Can I use someone else's computer or Internet service?
That is what makes this driver improvement traffic school course so easy and great! You can take this from home, work, a friend or family's house, your local library, or you can even rent time on the Internet at a copy/computer center. Whatever computer you use, you simply need Internet access. You can also start on your own computer and then finish on another. *This program also works with WEBTV.

* Must I complete this driver improvement traffic school course in one sitting?
InterActive! Virginia Online Driver Improvement Traffic School is designed for the person who does not have a lot of time. The driver improvement traffic school course is broken up into fourteen (14) sections, each individually timed. You can complete a 20 or 30 minute segment, for example, log off, and then log back on at a later time, and the computer will record the section you have completed. You can log on and off as many times as you wish until you complete the program. You can also do the entire driver improvement traffic schoolcourse in one sitting.....it is up to you.

* What if I have no e-mail address?
Do not worry if you do not have an e-mail address, as one is not needed to take this course. Any correspondence can be directly printed off the program or be done via mail or telephone. On the registration form under e-mail address, simply click on the no e-mail button, if you do not have one. Or you may also use a friend's e-mail address if you wish.

* I have already enrolled. How do I get back into the driver improvement traffic school program?
If you have already enrolled, you have a username and password. You may reenter those codes on our home page where instructed as many times as necessary to access and complete the program. If you have forgotten or lost your username or password, give us a call at 877-972-4665.

* How does the online timer work?
InterActive! Virginia Online Driver Improvement Traffic School website requires that "cookies" be enabled on your computer, as this will allow the site to time your progress. Unless enabled, you cannot participate in our course. By default, however, cookies are automatically enabled on your computer. Unless you know your "cookies" are disabled, you may proceed with the driver improvement traffic school course without a problem.

Because you must be timed while online, the website has an intricate timing feature. As a result, it is recommended that you do not open any other websites or browsers other than those contained within our driver improvement traffic school program while taking the course. Although unlikely, too many functions operating at once on your computer while on the driver improvement traffic school program may result in your computer being knocked off line.

* Why is there a time minimum for the driver improvement traffic school course?
InterActive! Virginia Online Driver Improvement Traffic School Traffic School Traffic School was approved by The Department Motor Vehicles as an eight (8) hour course. As a result, you may take as long as necessary to read the fourteen sections and there is no time maximum to complete the program. However, you cannot complete the course in under eight hours no matter how fast you may read. You may take the driver improvement traffic school program during many different sittings/days/weeks, yet the timing element is programmed into the course as part of a state requirement.

* I just got knocked off line in the middle of a section. What do I do now?
Many Internet users are knocked off line frequently. This may result from a lost Internet connection, another call interrupting your connection if you are on a single line with call waiting, or simply because your own computer crashes. Remember, as you complete each section of the driver improvement traffic school course, your progress is logged. Completion of chapter one, for example, cannot be lost if your answers are submitted to the system and graded on screen. Being knocked off line at that point, will only bring you back to the start of the next chapter, it will not delete chapter one. However, if you are in the middle of a section, have been reading for 20 minutes of a chapter requiring 35 minutes, and are then knocked off line, you will have to begin that driver improvement traffic school section over again. The system cannot log your progress if your connection is lost. Our website is unable to control your Internet connection and inactivity on your part will not result in our system knocking you off line.

* I use AOL and I keep getting knocked off line. What should I do?
If you are using AOL as your Internet service provider, you will have activity requirements while online. During some of the longer driver improvement traffic school sections requiring more minutes online, there is a chance AOL will knock you off-line unless you remain interactive with AOL. Do not leave the screen alone for any great length of time.....remain interactive with the screen.

* Are there any special computer or download requirements to participate in the driver improvement traffic school course?
There are no videos to download in our driver improvement traffic school program and no special requirements at all of your computer. You only need to have your java script and your "cookies" enabled. For the majority of computers, these elements are enabled by default on your computer. If you are on this screen and on our website, you can typically enroll and complete the driver improvement traffic school course without a problem.

* Can I take the entire driver improvement traffic school course from home or do I have to attend a "test site"?
The majority of the course (7 and 1/2 hours) can be completed from home. The final exam, however, must be taken at an official test site in Virginia. At the test site, a test proctor will verify your driver's license and log you onto a special final exam screen. The 50 question final usually takes under 30 minutes to complete and you will know immediately if you have passed. Click here for available test site times and locations.

* What happens if I fail the driver improvement traffic school final? Can I take it again?
You may take the driver improvement traffic school final up to five times without having to pay a retake fee. However, if you fail the final exam, you must wait a calendar day to retake the test. In short, you may only take the exam only once per day.
